Wind Surfing

We were just doing a little 'wind surfing'! Bert warned that the wind would take your breath away as you walk around the corner behind the house. He wasn't joking!
(45-66 mph winds)

Holding on tight

I really got dressed up for this one :)

Stranded They Are

Mom and Dad are stuck in Springfield at this very minute. Looking longingly at the nice airplane that was going to carry them to Memphis, Tenn. en-route to Glasgow.

Light rain doesn’t look like a problem but alas all flights are cancelled out of Springfield till tomorrow because of ice just above the innocent looking rain.

"Me thinks I will hop into the big red Ford and it will be "anther on time flight" for GDR," Dad is thinking. So I think they are zipping down to Memphis by wheels to make the international flight.

This is most definitely a Rozeboom vacation!

Call the Mechanic

They are only hub caps. What could be so hard about putting on a set of hub caps? They came off pretty easily. Three in the last four weeks. Surely they should go on as easily as well!

Wonder of wonders, I actually read the instructions on the box before starting. Don’t know what came over me…it doesn’t happen very often.

It said "Fitting Instructions: Prior to fitting your ‘wheel trims’, you must fit one metal tension ring to each trim." Piece of cake. Done.

"Assembly …"…tells you how you should have fitted the metal tension rings. Oh dear. Note to self: always read all of the instructions before you begin.

In the end, the tension rings were fitted correctly but there was no way the trims wold fit into our rims. Bert was wondering if we should have gotten the 12 inch ones. I don’t think they make them for golf carts….

The only thing is that maybe the rust has expanded the rims on our chariot. We know that rust is a small problem. That is the reason the tires keep leaking. The tire man was laughing when he showed me a rust hole the width of my pinky on one of our old rims. We chucked that one.

I may have to Flinstone it to the airport on Saturday. We have very special guest coming! Yippee!

I love my brother

A week from today, Mom and Dad will be having supper here at our house, Lord willing. Oh, I can not wait!
Aaron came last year in March for his spring break. He was here for five days and we had a blast. Most of these pictures are from the day we played the tourist in Edinburgh. And we did not even feel bad. (Bert was with us even though you can't tell from the pictures.)
Just a little family resemblance. Hard to believe, but all three of us really fit in there.
They even have the same hair do.

That is good to know...

The handsome man needs a cup of tea.

You can't go to Ediburgh without seeing the castle.
Never trust free samples at a cheesemonger. Aaron liked what ever the foul stuff was... I on the other hand, was still worried about the state of my tum tum one apple later. The sweet boy bought flowers for my birthday.

On his way back home.

A Bit from the New Year

On New Year’s Day, we took off on a little jaunt around the bay. I am not certain ‘bay’ is the proper name for it. These things come a bit harder to you, when you grow up 300 miles inland. At any rate, if you went by boat, Cove would only be a mile away. By car, skirting around the water is the way to go. Cove then pops up 15-20 minutes later.
Bert can not pass up the "highland" cow photo opp.

The handsome man himself

Jumping the puddles just up from the ocean

The ground is pretty saturated with water. (Check around his boot.)

The adventure begins

Crossing the fence is a piece of cake with these stairs. In Scotland, it is not possible to 'tresspass'. Even if you own the land, you do not have the legal right to keep people from walking arcoss it. Or something like that. There are probably exceptions.:)

Inside the Cove Cave was about the size of a large living room. They held Church services in here a 100+ years ago. It was more out of a neccecity for a warm sheltered place, rather than for persecution sake like much of Scotland's history.

Today, I am extremely thankful to the Lord for health. Not just for Bert and myself, but also for our families. Things come up so quickly. It is all too easy to take even big things like health for granted. If you are in good health at the moment, be thankful for it, but also do not forget to remember your friends, family, or neighbors who are going through more difficult times. There is little more comfort when you are not well, than to know that those who love you the most, are lifting your name to Him.

Remember the day when you could climb up into the back window of your parents car and lay streached out head to toe.....while going down the road...while passing a police car?

Ah, those were the days! The car and trucks were all the same length. There were only a few matte colors to chose from. The one I am thinking of was the pea green Oldsmobile. Pea green, like the inside of peas green. I loved that old car. All three of us kids could sit in the back seat and not even touch.

What would have we done if we had each needed a booster seat till we were 14 like in some countries? There deffinatly would have had to be some alterations on Aaron's side of the car. (Ok, I know. Or a certain height.:)

I know things are much safer now but did we ever have a lot of fun!
