Ordination, Vacation, and Coffee

Bert's parents came to visit for 10 days and we had a great time. They now know just about as many streets in Smiths Falls as we do, from the different walks we took. It was perfect weather. We did lots of visiting, talking, coffee shops, walks, etc. They let them through customs....always a relief.
Oh yes, and lots of picture taking....Bert didn't get it from a stranger.

On a walk....

The streets of Merrickville...
Checking out the locks.....

Fruitful shopping...
A bit to eat at "Brewed Awakenings"...
Looking a little bit like wildlife....Just after Bert's ordination/installation service. Here Bert is with Rev. John J. Murray from Scotland, who came out to do the ordination. It was great to see. Very thankful to the Lord for His direction and guidance over the years. There was the service which was followed by refreshments and a couple of speeches. Thank you too, to all those who helped everything to run so smoothly!

A walk in the wild.....
The boys playing one morning....

And then there is always the goodbyes....

Laddie's Back too

Bert is home again from Scotland and all went well. The ordination exam is in the pages of history, not likely to ever be looked on again. (He passed...Praise God!) Ordination services are now scheduled for July 26th at 5 p.m. Everyone is invited!

He was only gone for three days but managed to snap a couple of pics while he was staying at the Murray's home.

They took him to visit the Burrell Collection in Pollok Park, Glasgow. We live there how long and never saw it?!? Terrible. We did enjoy the park many times while we were there, but never went to the collection. "Bobby" the Scottish Terrier.

Yep, this is 'my' house!

In Tune

We live pretty close to what I would consider the down town area of Smith's Falls. The Tim Horton's, the library, two large drug stores, and several churches are a stones through away. One of the churches has an electronic bell that chimes hymn tunes on the hour. We were just headed out the door this morning to bring Bert the the airport when it fittingly chimed "God be with You Till We Meet Again."

So off we went. Bert should be on his way to Scotland in a couple of hours. It is a very short trip. He sits ordination exams on Friday night and then he will fly back again on Saturday morning, Lord willing. Yay!

Oh Say Can You See....

We celebrated the national holidays of two countries in the last couple of days. Bert, being the good Aussie he is, has no idea when Australia Day is but most likely it is during their summer so we have a couple of months!

We headed down to Syracuse, NY to catch some fireworks displays on the 3rd and the 4th. They were both really nice. Bert didn't take pictures of them this time cause the little business venture was keeping us both pretty busy. During the day though, we took a lazy 3 hour walk through the Onondaga Park and then headed out to check a few other places in the city.

No walk would be complete without geese on the sidewalk.

Enjoying our coffee and "Thanks a Latte" coffee shop.

They had a few games you could play while you were there. I picked Candy Land Wheel, only to discover there were no directions. The box said, "Ages 3-6.....easy no reading". We made up our own rules, but finally gave up in desperation. Candy Land won. Very sad. Anybody know how to play?

Oh Canada

It was Canada Day yesterday. I don't know how long it has been since Canada Day was established but it was our first time around and we had lots of fun. Most of the day was just normal Tuesday things, but we had three of the youth from church over for pizza in the evening. Then several 'tense' games of Clue followed. Two of us had never played Clue before so it was pretty interesting. Then we dashed to the park to catch the fireworks. Lots of fun.

(a picture I randomly pulled from the web.)

A couple of days ago it hailed. Our life is not only exciting, but it is well documented.... :)
