More of the Sweet Peas

Click here for a quick little slide show of the den Hollander's.

(And sadly, I keep posting pics from then cause I don't think the camera has been out of the bag since we made it back home. It surely won't stay that way for long though. :)

Sweet Peas

Awww, I love it! Ellie and the eyes...James and the lip...

A poem

I am not a big poem person, but this one was so kinda funny and oh so true. You might have read it before....

"The Cookie Thief"
by Vallerie Cox
A woman was waiting at an airport on night,
With several long hours before her flight,
She hunted a book in the airport shop,
Bought a bag of cookies and found a place to drop.
She was engrossed in her book, but happened to see,
That the man sitting beside her, as bold as could be,
Grabbed a cookie or two from the bag between,
Which she tried to ignore, to avoid a scene.
She read, munched cookies, and watched the clock,
As the gutsy 'cookie thief' diminished her stock.
She was getting more irritated as the minutes ticked by,
Thinking, " If I wasn't so nice, I would blacken his eye!"
With each cookie she took he took one too.
When only one was left, she wondered what he'd do.
With a smile on his face and a nervous laugh,
He took the last cookie and broke it in half.
He offered her half, as he ate the other.
She snatched it from him and thought, Oh brother,
This guy has some never and he's also rude.
Why, he didn't even show and gratitude!
She had never know when she had been so galled,
And sighed with relief when her flight was called.
She gathered her belongings and headed to the gate,
Refusing to look back at the "thieving ingrate."
She boarded the plane and sank in her seat,
Then sought her book which was almost complete.
As she reached in her baggage, she gasped with surprise,
There were her cookies in front of her eyes.
If mine are here, she moaned with despair,
then the others were his and he tried to share.
Too late to apologize, she realized with grief,
That she was the rude one, the ingrate, the thief!

Our Own Little Flood

Yesterday I mopped my kitchen floor. One would think that should happen on a regular basis with out being noted. But it doesn't.

The reason it happened yesterday was cause the hose from my washer fell out of the sink while the washer was draining. I was working on photos at the computer and heard things that I shouldn't have. In the end, not only do we have a sparkly clean floor, but every towel in the house got a wash too. Almost a win win situation.

My cute braided green rug didn't like the bleach in the water though.

Winter Break

We have enough pictures here for several post, but since that will never happen, here they all are at once. :)

Bert shoveling for the second time at 2 a.m. just before we left. The sidewalk snowplow made a pass just after he finished the drive way. Ah well, good exercise after watching the snow fall!
We left SF on the 22nd and made it back again in the wee hours of the 3rd. We decided that driving straight through was totally the way to do it. It seems like only a day when we switch off and sleep while the other guy drives.

James was trilled to see us. Or at least that was my interpretation :)
Ellie loving on Grandma.

Doctor's son teaching James the proper art of hand washing.

Ellie rocking the rolls. :)

Can't remember what that was all about...

Ah, finally Auntie Nina found a replacement 'model' for Bert's photographing!

James hung this one. I have no idea how it managed to hang that close to the edge of the branch. Did I ever mention how much I like being an Auntie?

Miss Ellie

Common scene in the morning.

Maybe I get a kick out of this cause I'm not Mama. :)

More good times...

Checking out her new Raggedy Ann

James and 'Bumpa' going for a ride.

He was pretty sure he could fit in here....

One night we painted little canvases. We could paint anything we wanted to. In the end we were going to draw numbers, and the person with 1 would get to pick first, and down the line. We never got that far but it was a ton of fun.
Can you pick who's is who's?

Lumpy, the glasses, and the necklace. This picture may resurface in a few years....

We had a ton of fun, thanks everybody!
