A Picture is Worth....

I love this picture! Net and Tim used to have a mini van. Well, used to a couple times...long story but it seems as if Net is suffering from the dreaded invisibleness of high school a few years late. It is now in the form of driving mini vans. Both vans they have owned, have been hit and totalled within the first year they have had them. Everyone has always been ok, thankfully.

After the last van was totaled, they bought a Volvo station wagon . (The safety ratings are though the roof....kinda like poor Meg's head here :) It is supposed to fit as many people as a mini van. The picture below is when all of us girls - Mom, Net, Meg, Me- and the three kiddies were headed to a baby shower for Jasper back in August. James loved it! While Meg might be a little shorter than Net and I (thus the reason for the backseat placement:), I don't know if she would agree with the 'as much room as a mini van theory!

Smiling in August

It has been so long since I posted anything! Nothing too exciting happening here, but I thought I would post a couple pics from last week when I visited our new little nephew in Arkansas! Me and Jasper....we bonded. He slept right by me by the couch. Sometimes in my arms...but I don't like to do that too much cause I am a pretty good sleeper! He seems to be a little cuddlebug. Love it!

It just hit me that I haven't even said that Jasper was born. He was born on July 11 around noon, weighing 7 lbs 11 oz. Net and Tim named him Jasper Mathias. We are thinking he might take after Grandpa R.

And then a picture of the three little munchkins. Miss them all!

Holiday Weekend

There is always tons of stuff going on in the summer and especially on holiday weekends. It was Canada Day here in ....Canada....on July 1. :) Then Independence Day in the USA on the 4th. We met up in Kingston with some friends from Hamilton. It was a perfect day. Warm but not hot. We went on one of the 1000 Island Cruises and then took a peek though an Art Fair on the banks of the Lake Ontario. All of it was a blast. Bert and I hadn't been to a craft show since we set up with Mom and Dad a couple of years ago. I think I will always love those things!

Here is the fearless little boat.

Bert and Ed were out in the front of the boat catching the breeze. We rounded the point of an Island and the wave got Bert so wet he wrung out his shirt. Poor guy is loosing his touch for the sea!
It was an awesome little fair. Good stuff. Handmade. Yep, I think the jury did a good job. :)

Boaz giving Bert big smiles. And a wedding on Saturday. Self portrait.....

The World Goes 'Round

Nothing too much new happening here. Just Bert with all the 'hazards' of the trade. Then one to show how he has mastered focus. :) And then of course, one where he was checking out the light. Have a great Monday!

Far & Away & Back Again
(Part V...the Final one)

On Friday after the GA, we when up to Dundee to see some friends Magdi, Lily, and Levi.

This is a terrible picture, but it was just because of the sign that said 'football traffic' in the background.
Friday night Rev. John J. Murray and his wife Cynthia, and daughter Anna had us over for a B-B-Q. It was great to sit and enjoy the outdoors with friends! (above is Anna's dog in a classic Collie pose)

Here is Bobby, the Murray's dog. I regret not talking more people pictures, but sometimes you don't want to always be putting a camera in front of someone!
The car that had 5 miles on when we picked it up, had 1325 miles on when we returned it. Not bad!
And the last pick. I don't look as happy as I could cause we were waiting for a bus to take us to another terminal in Manchester, England. It was a tight connection (1 1/2...and we had to re-check in and go though security again....Bet is always more relaxed about these things. :)

Far & Away & Back Again
(Part IV...The General Assembly)

Now for the General Assembly. This was held the last week we were in Scotland. The picture below is from the Thursday (final day). They hold the Assembly in the Liberton Kirk in Edinburgh. It is an amazingly beautiful building. It was great to see so many friends under one roof. The sessions begin each day around 9 a.m. with short breaks for lunch and supper, and they finish around 9:30 (or later) each night.

The Reverends Richie Ross, Callum Ian MacLeod, Gavino Fioreti, and Greg MacDonald at lunch one day.

Pastor Warren Gardener and Assembly Officer Derrick Gillies having a bit of a 'bleather' after lunch.

Home Mission Worker Donald Morrison giving a little speech at the Moderator's Reception.

Alisdair MacLeod (FCC student). We have many fond memories of youth gatherings in Glasgow with Alisdair.

Rev. James Clark, Parthipan (student), Elder Nailer, and Rev. John Keddie.

Reverends Harry Woods, William MacLeod, and Gavin Beers.

This year's Moderator for General Assembly Rev. David Frasier and his wife Marion.

Ms. MacIver and a friend from Glasgow, Rev. John Mac Leod, and Lindsay MacCallum.

Rev. Keddie's grandchildren checking out creepy-crawlies.

The front of the church by night.

One day while the men where discussing very important business, I went sightseeing/shopping. :)
This is for you Mom. I was sitting right in the corner of that bench when I called you.

A random statue.

Some monument outside of the castle.

A popular little ice cream truck park off Princes Street.

And then I think we have one more short little post on Scotland, and that just about does it!
*I most likely did not get the spellings correct on all of the names....very sorry about that!

Far & Away & Back Again (Part III)

And a ton more. I figured we could drag this out a bit, cause we don't have too much for pictures going on since we returned to Canada. (Except for BertPohlPhoto stuff)

Somewhere on the Isle of Skye.

This was the ruins of a church and graveyard on the western side of Skye.
One night we stayed over in Gerry's Hostel in Achnashellach. It was an older house turned into a hostel. Gerry was of course the owner and has run it there for over 40 years. It is pretty much out in a secluded part of the Highlands. Most of the people that stay there are hill walkers. Gerry built a warm fire in the main room and we sat around talking to the other people. It was fun. Gerry also had his record player on in the background. He said it would be there as long as he was there.
The view from out the window in room we stayed in.

The beach out at Laide, just up the road from Aultbea where we stayed a couple years ago.

On the way down the the Assembly, we stopped off at House of Blair for a snack. Bert got a kick out of the antique cars.

Enjoying some hot chocolate.

The gates outside of Blair Castle.
The lane way leading to the castle.

On a little trail near Pitlochry.
