Earth’s crammed with heaven,
And every bush afire with God;
But only he who sees takes off his shoes;
The rest sit around it and pluck blackberries.

What's your interpretation?

That is very cool! It is a good reminder.
I'm such a dunce...I never was any good at interpretation.
The verse reminds me of Psalm 19, one of my favorites. The beauty of God revealed to us in creation is mediated by our ability to appreciate the source.
As usual, the tree huggers insist that you worship the creation. One does not worship the creation, but the creator. The angels who brought messages kept telling people not to worship them, thus we can safely say that one is not to worship the bushes. One is to be thankful and make use of them. Berries are very good, and I'm very thankful for them, but I do not honor them above God. ;)
Hey Eva,
I'm not sure who you mean by "tree hugger." I consider myself to be both a Christian and an environmentalist. Thanks for your comment.
What I mean by "tree huggers" are the dudes who take the idea of stewardship to the extreme. Ralph Waldo Emerson is not only a tree hugger, he is a pronounced egotist. (But at least he is not as bad a Walt Witman.)
I'm an environmentalist: I belive that we are to take care of what God has given us, but I am not a pantheaist(sp?) who believes that humans are an alian specie. (I also don't run about proclaiming the evils of greenhouse gasses and then drive off in one of my six SUVs, while smoking a cuban cigar. There, brettlikins, is the essential difference.)
