Mouse in the House

A week or two ago, I noticed that we were not the only living creatures in our house. I hadn't seen any actual mice but it was pretty evident they were around. I promptly went out to Dollaroma and bought a four-pack of mouse traps.

The first night we caught one. Initially I felt just a little bit bad....cause mice are kind of cute.... He had only gotten into the spelt in my cupboard. That was pretty good. Usually they test a little of everything they walk past. Then we caught another one about a week later.

Yesterday I went into the closet under the stairs to the attic to get something out of a bag and this is what I found.

I no longer felt bad about ending his life.

He even ate my glycerin soap stash.

And was apparently a mouse after Bert's own heart. He had desperately tried to get into the Ferrero Rocher Chocolates. Bert is pretty sure they are still safe to eat.....

And the bag was on this hook, which is above my head. Nimble little rodent.

Hopefully this is the end of our little invasion...at least till fall.

Mailboxes

This is a shock, no doubt, to anyone following our blog. A post two days in a row. Good thing most of us sit down to do our web browsing!
This is what has been happening in the church front here lately. Summer is the absolute best time here in SF to do door-to-door type evangelism. It is our goal this summer as a church to have an evangelism specific service (they all are...hehe, but very specifically these times) once a month. We invite friends, neighbors, family, etc. And we also deposit 'fliers' in mailboxes. These are the fliers. They give a brief description of our church, a bit of the gospel, and our contact info.

The back side...

The front side....

The meat of the matter...

The boxes that greet the flier distributors!

It is pretty exciting. We have had two of these services so far. Approximately 300 houses in our town of 9,000 population have received the fliers. One lady actually came because of the 'invitation'. We pray that many more will come, or be stirred to seek the Gospel in the Bible or other churches.

Day to Day

It seem like it is about time document everyday life around here. And by that, I mean mostly my part of our life....hehe. Bert of course spends a good amount of his time in his study, but I don't tend to bug him with the camera when he is busy there.
This is my office. The fish-on-stick on the floor to the right and my dear sweet nephew's picture keep me company. I have photos of James and Ellie together now, so I must update my company....

My favorite beverage in the Starbucks mug Net gave me. You can't see it so much here, but the mug could double as a bowl. Just the way I like it!

On Monday mornings we go through the pics from the last wedding shoot, Bert develops them, and then I start the editing.

Yesterday I ironed the mountain of Bert's shirts that had been tormenting me from their corner for weeks. I discovered there were some long sleeved ones in there too...honest. That was how long it had been.

It actually feels like summer now. It isn't that hot, but it is warm and sunny. I love how you can see the community in the summer. Very often on the weekend evenings
trucks/vans/SUV's (anything you can open the back and sit in) back up in the Tim Horton's parking lot facing the road. Everybody has a red Timmy's cup in their hand and they sit there chatting away. It reminds me a little bit like a different version of the 'cruising' that would happen in towns around us when we were growing up in Arkansas. Summer socializing.

Where is....

Can you spot the photog peon in the picture?
(Maybe she could spend a bit of time in a spelling class....I don't know if photog or peon are the right words. :)

The Senses

There is a reason why you have five senses. I can never figure out which one/ones are most important.

But now that summer is here, I would rate sound right there at the top.

Gotta love:

(1) the drone of a law mower

(2) the chirp of birds early in the morning

(3) the whoosh of wind from open car widows

(4) the gentle lap of water against a shore

(5) the voice of all your dear ones

Out and About

Ok, I am not sure what is happening with my blogger here, but I can't move the pictures or the text. So here it goes, they are in no order what so ever. The Scotland pictures are mixed in with the France pictures and the text that explains it all is very close to the bottom. Very sorry! If I don't post it now, I might never get it done!

No idea what this was all about...
____________

We have been goofing off again! Bert and I took off for the past couple of weeks and just returned on Monday. It was a blast!
The first part was spent in Paris, and the second part in Scotland. I had found a great deal on tickets that went through France so we had spend a couple days! It was great fun and we have a ton of pictures.

Our time in Scotland was wonderful too. Unfortunately we didn't take nearly as many pictures there. Bert's camera is a little too big to pull out durring the middle of the GA, but we were able to spend time with many dear friends. We are so thankful to be able to see them all again from time to time.

Now I have a way too many pictures to post, and I really shoudln't post this many. (If you get board, I am very sorry! This is kind of a slap dash post, cause I really am supposed to be editing the wedding and two engagement sessions that we took two days before we left for Europe.) So here it goes....
The hotel...
Again, so sorry about the mess.
