Every Day Life

Here I am, posting more pics of Bert with a camera around his neck. It really doesn't happen as often as it seems. It is just that I almost always have a camera at the same time as he does.....and I next to never bother him while he is at his desk. That is, I don't bother him with my camera. :) Rarely does a day go by when he is studing, that life in my work world can't go on until I consult the Brains of the Operation. And so it goes.

The 'walking pic' is pretty common around here. When we case out a shoot location, it is fun to snap a pic of each other.

We celebrated the American Thanksgiving with Net and the kiddies when they were here, but we did it again on the day with just the two of us. Ha, you can never get enough stuffing and bird!

This was five batches of gingerbread for gingerbread houses. Yep all 14 lbs of it. It made 8 little houses.

The girls had a lot of fun. And they weren't the only ones eating candy....Bert proved it.

The finished project. They did very well. Each of them had great ideas of their own. This was our last meeting with the Girls Group this year.

So that is just a little bit of life here in SF....the part documented by pictures anyway.

Kiddies

Well anywho, we had a great time with Net and the kiddos! We just 'lived life'. It was sooo fun. And I miss them tons. There are many things that we unfortunatly do not have pictures of. Like going to the liberary, Net and I going out for coffee, going to the park here in SF, etc. Sometimes being in the moment is just as good as trying to capture it for later. (can't believe I just said that....but I really did want be be holding the kiddies and not the camera:)

James isn't it this picture, but we really didn't have very many pics with both Net and I in them so this will have to do!

The Chair

I picked up an office chair at Salvation Army the other day. It is great. I like the smallish kind with no arms. It was perfect but it looked like Lassie spent way too much time in the office. So I picked up some fabric from IKEA and did a little home re-covering job on it. Fun stuff! It didn't take very long either. I highly recommend it to anybody!

Now we just wonder what the print is supposed to be. In IKEA it looked like black and white cactus to me. Bert thinks they are weird watermelons. Ah well.

Moments in Life

Nope it isn't a dream, they are for real Marks & Spencer Chocolate Biscuits! One of the ladies in church returned a suitcase she had borrowed for her trip to the UK and put these in it for us. Thanks Flora!

All the fall garden bounty. We had our first frost on Sunday night so I cleaned out the garden. It is nice to have the color in the house...until we eat them. :)

The leaves have a ton of color at the moment. I love it!

Bert was testing out his new 'toy'. (his birthday present from Mum and Dad Pohl arrived yesterday. He loves it!:) We had just finished with a client meeting at Starbucks.

I really do take pictures of Bert too, but I honestly have no idea where they disappear to. We'll have to look into that.....

And then here is an oldie but a goodie. It is my Grandpa Rozeboom with the trucks he and his brother owned in their trucking business. I would love one of those signs on the truck, but they are surly long gone by now. It would look pretty cool in my living room. :)

Birthday Boy

Happy Happy Birthday to my dear Hubby! We have a few pictures of him from when he was a bit smaller. The teen years are a bit sketch for pictures. Most of the ones we have from then, you can't even tell it is him cause he is just a little dot on a surf board in the middle of the ocean.

I can't remember if we have posted any of these pics before. If we have, sorry!

The tree, etc.

Ha, good thing our car wasn't a few feet forward! Truth be told, we have parked 'under' this tree for the last two years. It was great for shade. This branch was always just above head level, but this summer we noticed it leaning a bit more. Last week we started parking back further. Today somebody anxiously knocked on the door and informed us that the tree had fallen.

Just this morning at the ladies prayer meeting, we were talking about the Lord directing all things in life. This was another visible reminder. (I know He directs even the things that seem negative, but we are thankful for this!) Only leaves hit the car. Not a branch touched it.

Bert walked into the kitchen a couple days ago, stopped short, said something about getting his camera and this is the result! I was canning, washing, cooking, and cleaning all at once....or at these that is my excuse.

Meet My Dad

Here is my Dad. Best Dad ever.

I still remember as kids thinking that Dad should run for president. Mostly likely there was a presidential election going on at the time. Aaron and I knew that he would win the race cause we didn't know anybody who did not like him.

We were going down the list of things we thought were important characteristics for a president.....we were all of about 7 and 8 years old....honesty was right there on top. To this day, I can't think of once when Dad was not completely honest with us. There were not double standards for us or anyone else he dealt with. There were no grey areas. Something was either right or wrong and he would explain it to us very simply. Biblical explanations were very real. Not just a true story from 2000+ years ago. (and why not, the truth never changes!)

One thing that is clearer to me every day, is how important family was and continues to be for Dad. Most of his decisions in life were based on (1) was it God's will for him, and (2) would it be the best thing for his family. He was not after 'glory and riches' as the world knows them, but understood that apart from one's own personal relationship with Christ, there are few things more important and lasting than relationships. And relationships start with family.

I hope and pray that if the Lord grants us children one day, that He will give us the wisdom, care, and love to be half the parents that our parents were to us.

Tea or Coffee?

Ok, it is cold here today! We had soup for lunch and tea & coffee cups are piling up in the sink. It was after doing the lunch dishes that I realized....and please tell me if you do the same.....I have favorite cups. The funny thing is, they are not the same ones for coffee and tea. Bert isn't so fussy. Just give him the largest mug possible and he is a happy man.

Bits of the Day

Just a couple of pretty terrible pictures here....but it is what I have been up to today. We had a 'girls club' meeting today and made little Bird Mobiles. Yay, I love them and we had a ton of fun! Martha Stewart.com folks. It is a great place.

One more week before school starts. Summer 2009 went faster than any summer in all of my 28 years. Wow. Bring on the fall!
